The “Granefeltet” is an oil field located about 185 kilometers west of Haugesund. The field was discovered by Norsk Hydro in 1991, and production started on 23 September 2003. Grane is the first field on the Norwegian continental shelf to produce heavy crude oil. The field has been developed with the platform Grane, which stands at a depth of 127 metres. The platform was designed by Aker Solutions Engineering in the period 2000-2003.
